## How it works

1. Open a photo of your face taken against a plain white or off-white wall. It stays in your browser.
2. Move and resize the square so the top of your hair and your chin fit the oval and your eyes sit inside the green band.
3. The photo is saved as a 600×600 px JPEG marked 300 DPI, so it prints at exactly 2×2 inches. It's decoded again to check the size and resolution.
4. Download the single photo for online applications, or the 4×6 inch sheet with six photos to print at a photo kiosk.

## Questions

### What size is a US passport photo?

2×2 inches (51×51 mm). The head, from chin to top of hair, must measure 1 to 1⅜ inches, and the eyes must be 1⅛ to 1⅜ inches from the bottom of the photo. The guides follow these rules.

### Why 600×600 pixels at 300 DPI?

600 pixels at 300 dots per inch is exactly 2 inches. The tool writes 300 DPI into the file so printers and kiosks size it correctly, and it meets the 600×600 px minimum for digital photos.

### How do I print it?

Download the 4×6 inch sheet and print it as a standard 4×6 photo at a store kiosk or online lab, at actual size. Cut along the light grey lines to get six photos.

### Does it remove or change the background?

No. It only frames and sizes your photo; it doesn't edit your face or background. Take the photo against a plain white or off-white wall.

### Is my photo uploaded?

No. Your face never leaves your device. The photo is cropped and saved in your browser, and the result has no metadata or location.
