# Terms of use > The terms for using SecretGrid: your licence, Pro subscriptions through Google Play, your responsibility for your pattern and recovery phrase, and our limits of liability. Canonical: https://trysecretgrid.com/terms Last updated: 2026-11-06 ## The short version - You can use SecretGrid for free, for your own lawful purposes. - Pro is sold through Google Play. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in the Play Store. - Only you hold the keys. If you lose both your pattern and your recovery phrase, your vault can't be opened by anyone, including us. - Keep your own backups of anything you can't afford to lose. - The app is provided as is, and our liability is limited as far as the law allows. ## Agreement These terms are an agreement between you and Robin Dev Studios (“we”, “us”) about the SecretGrid app and this website. By installing or using SecretGrid you accept them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. Our [privacy policy](https://trysecretgrid.com/privacy) explains how data is handled. ## Your licence We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use SecretGrid on Android devices you own or control, in line with these terms and Google Play’s terms of service. The app, its design and its name remain ours. You agree not to: - use SecretGrid to store, share or hide content that is illegal, or to harm, harass or exploit anyone; - copy, resell or redistribute the app, or remove its notices; - reverse engineer it except where the law allows this despite this restriction; - get around purchase checks or the limits of the free plan. ## Your pattern, recovery phrase and data SecretGrid encrypts your content on your phone with keys derived from your pattern. We never receive your pattern, your recovery phrase or your files, so **we can’t recover, reset or decrypt a vault for you**. Write your recovery phrase down when you create a vault and keep it safe. - Losing both the pattern and the recovery phrase means losing that vault for good. - The duress pattern, disappearing items, the recycle bin’s 30-day limit and “delete for good” permanently remove data by design. Use them with care. - Uninstalling the app or resetting the phone deletes the vaults stored on it. - Backup to Google Drive is optional and depends on your Google account and Google’s service. Keep separate copies of anything you can’t afford to lose. You own your content. You’re responsible for it and for having the right to store and share it. ## SecretGrid Pro, subscriptions and refunds - **Purchases.** Pro is available as a yearly or monthly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase, through Google Play. Prices are shown in the app and on Google Play in your local currency, including any taxes Google collects. - **Free trial.** The yearly plan may include a free trial for new subscribers. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you’re charged. - **Renewal and cancelling.** Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Cancel any time in the Google Play Store under Payments & subscriptions; Pro stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for. - **Refunds.** Refunds are handled by Google under the [Google Play refund policy](https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637). You can also contact us and we’ll help where we can. - **Restoring.** Pro is tied to your Google Play account; use “Restore purchases” in the app on a new phone. - **Changes.** We may change what’s included in the free plan or Pro, or Pro’s price. Price changes for existing subscribers follow Google Play’s rules, which include notice and, where required, your consent. ## Ads The free plan shows occasional ads provided by Google AdMob, as described in the [privacy policy](https://trysecretgrid.com/privacy#services). We aren’t responsible for third-party ads or the sites they link to. ## Third-party services SecretGrid relies on services from others, including Google Play, Google Drive, Google AdMob, RevenueCat and Expo. Their own terms apply to your use of them, and we can’t guarantee that they’ll always be available. ## Updates and availability We may update SecretGrid to fix problems, improve security or change features, and some updates install automatically. We may also stop offering the app. If we do, the vaults on your phone keep working with the version you have, and your recovery phrase keeps working with it. ## No warranty SecretGrid is provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those you can’t give up by law, including that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted or protect against every threat. Encryption protects your content, but no software can promise perfect security. ## Limitation of liability As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, including data lost because a pattern and recovery phrase were forgotten, because data was deleted by the features described above, or because a backup or third-party service failed. Our total liability for any claim about SecretGrid is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the laws of the country where you live. ## Ending these terms You can stop using SecretGrid at any time by uninstalling it; remember to cancel any subscription in Google Play. We may suspend or end your licence if you seriously break these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as the limits of liability) continue after that. ## Changes to these terms We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll let you know in the app before they apply.
